Church is just awesome.
This past Easter weekend, Rob was part of an Easter play at church called "Voices of Easter". He played the role of Peter and he did SO well (including forcing himself to cry, and it was quite believable).
I hadn't seen a drama of the Easter story since before Isaiah was born, and, let me tell you, that it hits you in a completely different way once you have children. During the crucifixion, Mary, the mother of Jesus, cries out "My son, My son...." and it killed me. I was a blubbering crazy person in my seat and I could NOT hold back the tears. I can not imagine EVER having to see my own son go through so much pain and agony and suffering. Before I became a mother, I always thought it was sad that Jesus' mom had to watch him be crucified, but it hit me so hard trying to put myself in her shoes, as a mother. Yikes.
What a great drama. It was a little bit graphic, so a few of the younger children went downstairs to play. But what a great opportunity for older children to experience the Easter Story. I am so excited to watch Isaiah grow up and learn about what Jesus did for us when he died on the cross.
On another note...here's the song I had a solo in at church on Sunday. (I'm clearly the FEMALE soloist in the third verse and the repeats in the bridge) It's one of my new favorites.
