Finances....

We are learning about what God wants us to do with our finances in our Bible Study group and I am really enjoying it! Too bad we only have one session left.

Essentially, our money belongs to God, not to us. He has full reign! He can decide what comes out of the money we earn. ALSO - it is VERY important to tithe and to tithe regularly - it's all over the Bible!

We need to give a tenth of our income to God. He even asks us to test him to see if He really will bless us for it.

"I am the LORD all-Powerful, and I challenge you to put me to the test. Bring the entire ten percent into the storehouse, so there will be food in my house. Then I will open the windows of heaven and flood you with blessing after blessing." Malachi 3:10

We have also learned that we need to give to God FIRST - before paying bills - everything will work out. We've seen first hand, that it really does.

"Honor the LORD by giving him your money and the FIRST part of all your crops. Then you will have more grain and grapes than you will ever need." Proverbs 3:9-10

God isn't going to bless everyone financially. Sometimes he wants us to learn different lessons, and bless us in other ways. Even now, I am still considering getting myself a part-time job so that we can have some extra income. All I know is that if I trust Him and obey what he has commanded, everything will work out and I won't have to worry about anything!! YAY!

We have witnessed that by giving to God first we will be truly blessed. One time (while we were students) we tithed, paid most of our bills and had under $100 dollars left in the account to pay for groceries/gas/other things that come up in a month. That Sunday someone just happened to give us $100 cash and that lasted us through the remainder of the month. We could have very easily kept our tithe money and made it through but God chose to show us blessing for being faithful which was so cool. And such an affirmation that we "will have more grain and grapes than we will ever need."
We have since had similar experiences but that one in particular always stands out in my mind. I think at that point in my life I really needed that affirmation because I found our money situation so stressful.
Thanks for provoking thought. It's good to be reminded of His faithfulness.

I'm glad I'm not the only one that feels or has felt that way. I definitely can relate to money being stressful - it's hard when you're a stay-at-home mom. Sometimes I don't know how we are going to do it, and yet, somehow it always works out. We haven't been tithing...because we thought that other things like buying groceries would be more important. We didn't realize that we needed to tithe FIRST, and everything else will just fall into place. It is still a little bit scary, at least for me, but I'm trying to just relax. Ha ha.
